 | Assessment and Evaluation A psychoeducational evaluation is an in-depth process that
utilizes standardized tests and measurements to develop a comprehensive
profile of a child’s learning, behavioral, and social-emotional
functioning. This profile aids in the identification of strengths and
needs across many areas of functioning. The information gathered from
this process guides the development of interventions and strategies
that will enhance a child’s quality of life, both at school and at home.
A
psychoeducational evaluation is a one-on-one, individualized
assessment. At the Diagnostic Center, a full comprehensive
psychoeducational evaluation includes:
1. A
thorough history, consisting of a parent interview,
completion of parent questionnaires and review of previous
psychological and educational testing, if available;
2.
An individual evaluation in the areas of intelligence, academics,
emotional and behavioral functioning, memory, perceptual and visual-motor skills, executive functioning, learning style, and/or attention and concentration;
3. An observation of the student (when appropriate).
After
all of the data has been gathered and analyzed, results and
recommendations are shared via a reporting conference, and families are
provided with a copy of the written report that includes results and
recommendations.
