Coach Joel Shrum is in his fourth year at Currey Ingram Academy as a faculty member in the Middle School. Whether coaching or playing, Coach Shrum is no stranger in athletics.

Coach Joel Shrum is in his fourth year at Currey Ingram Academy as a faculty member in the Middle School. Whether coaching or playing, Coach Shrum is no stranger in athletics.  He grew up playing football and baseball and served as a student manager for baseball at East Tennessee State University.  He is also a YoungLife leader at CIA for students in the Upper School.  Joel earned a Bachelor of Science in K-6 Elementary Education from ETSU and holds a Tennessee teaching license in K-6 Elementary Education. In Johnson City Schools, Mr. Shrum has served as a third grade Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher, a Math and Language Arts academic tutor for at-risk second and third grade students, and a Math summer school instructor. He joined the Currey Ingram faculty in 2015.
