Child Development Center

About the Child Development Center
The Currey Ingram Academy Child Development Center is open to CIA staff and parents, as well as to members of the community. The Center is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Education and offers a traditional academic curriculum. It is housed on the Currey Ingram Academy campus at 6544 Murray Lane in Brentwood. The program includes infant, toddler, preschool and Pre-K classrooms. Part-time and full-time slots are available.

Our mission is to develop life-long learners. The Child Development Center curriculum supports a cognitive discovery program designed to allow each child to progress at his or her own learning pace. The program enhances imagination and explores all areas of development. The teachers guide children in collaborative, individual, and specific age-group learning.

Infant, Toddler and Preschool Classrooms
For our infant, toddler and preschool students, we offer a year-round program that provides a comprehensive curriculum fostering the social, emotional and cognitive growth of our students. The program is located in a Farmhouse adjacent to the main campus providing our students a unique opportunity to explore a pastoral farm setting. On a daily basis our students participate in multi-sensory lessons designed to meet each child's individual developmental needs. To enhance classroom learning, our infant, toddler and preschool children take daily nature walks and buggy rides. Our beautiful acreage is home to horses, chickens and a creek. Classes plant flower and vegetable gardens for spring and summer. In the fall they jump in leaves and make tracks in the winter snow.

Pre-K Program
For our Pre-K students, we operate on a school year calendar from September 4, 2012, to May 31, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (before- and after-care are available), with summer care available for students in their summer before kindergarten. The Pre-K program is a curriculum-based program. The Child Development Center has adopted the Frog Street Press curriculum. The lessons are hands-on, short and focused on simple topics. The entire curriculum is geared to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in kindergarten. We are able to maximize student development with small student to teacher ratios. The Pre-K program is located on the main campus in the Jan Carell Field House.
