Currey Family Idea Center

The Currey Family IDEA Center, which opened for the 2026-27 school year, is a 10,500+ square-foot hub for Ingenuity, Design, Exploration, and Application at Currey Ingram Academy.

Designed to make hands-on learning accessible to students with learning differences, the IDEA Center brings creativity, technology, problem-solving, and collaboration together under one roof. Students across grades K–12 learn in the building, developing skills and confidence through experiences that encourage them to build, create, experiment, and turn ideas into action.

From a student's earliest experiences with STEM through advanced Upper School electives, the IDEA Center creates opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills, and discover what is possible.

Hands-On Learning Across Grades K-12

Two learning hubs support developmentally appropriate experiences for students across grade levels. Each floor includes collaborative classroom space alongside dedicated facilities for making, robotics, technology, and design.
The IDEA Center includes:
  • Two 694-square-foot makerspaces, one on each floor
  • Two 782-square-foot robotics labs, one on each floor
  • Collaborative classrooms designed for interdisciplinary and project-based learning
  • Spaces for coding, engineering, artificial intelligence, extended reality (XR), digital creation, and other emerging technologies
Students throughout the school experience the IDEA Center as part of Currey Ingram's K-12 program, while Upper School students can pursue more specialized coursework and electives in areas such as coding, engineering, broadcasting, and cinematography.

Professional Audio and Video Production

The IDEA Center also expands opportunities for students interested in storytelling, music, media, and production.

A professional-quality audio and video production suite includes an approximately 1,200-square-foot music studio and control room, bringing the capabilities of a Nashville recording studio directly to campus.

The video production studio features an approximately 10-foot-tall by 12-foot-wide LED wall, creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience with broadcasting, cinematography, video production, digital environments, and other forms of visual storytelling.

These spaces support Upper School coursework and electives while also creating opportunities for students across grade levels through class projects, clubs, performances, and collaborative experiences.

Where IDEAs Take Shape

The technology inside the Currey Family IDEA Center is only the starting point. The greater purpose of the building is to give students the space, tools, instruction, and encouragement to ask questions, test possibilities, solve problems, and create something of their own.

Through accessible, hands-on experiences, students can discover new interests and strengths while developing skills in collaboration, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and innovation.
