Director of Athletics, Grades 5-12 Assistant Coach, Middle School Volleyball
Kelly Fish has been at Currey Ingram Academy as Director of Athletics for grades 5-12 since 2011. Kelly was previously at Belmont University, where she worked for eight years in leadership positions in both advancement and athletics. In 2016, Kelly earned her Certified Master Athletic Administrator license from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
Assistant Athletic Director Head Coach, Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Coach, Varsity Soccer Head Coach, Middle School Flag Football Head Coach, Middle School Volleyball Reid is in his tenth year at CIA. He is from Anderson, Indiana and holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Communication Studies and minor in Christian Ethics from Belmont University. In 2018, Reid earned his Certified Master Athletic Administrator license from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
Tennis Director Head Coach, Middle School & Varsity Tennis A native of Revere, MA, Coach Ty Avolio came to CIA full-time in January 2011. Ty has been a tennis fan and player for most all of his life. Coach Ty has led the Middle School Tennis team to three Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference Championships (2014, 2015 & 2017) and the Varsity Team has two MTAC Championships (2014 & 2017).
Jason Church joined Mustang Athletics as the Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning in the summer of 2015. Jason attended the University of Mississippi and earned a degree in Exercise Science before completing a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Belmont University in 2009.
Head Coach, Varsity Cross Country Coach Ryne Anderson, a native of Dayton, TN, is in his seventh year as a coach for Mustang Athletics. Ryne played football at Maryville College, where he graduated with a degree in physical education and a minor in history. Ryne is a Physical Education and Health teacher in the Middle School and Upper School at Currey Ingram.
Head Coach, Varsity Volleyball Dr. Jeffrey Mitchell is a native of Canada. He received his MA and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. Coach Mitchell has served in four independent schools over 20 years, as both a teacher and administrator. He has also coached every year he has served in independent schools.
Leighton Eby is a native of Dixon, TN and a graduate of Belmont University. While at Belmont, Leighton was a four-year cheerleader for the Bruins, serving as the team captain and cheering in both OVC and NCAA tournaments.
Head Coach, Middle School Soccer-Gold A native of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, James Hayden is entering his tenth year as a coach at CIA. Coach Hayden has coached basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and football for the Mustangs in three separate Divisions.
Eric Vinson Head Coach, Middle School Boys Basketball-Gold Team Coach Vinson has been at Currey Ingram since 2007. He's served in various roles, but currently is the Assistant Division Head in the Lower School and the Director of Summer and Afterschool Programs. Eric has coached golf and basketball in Mustang Athletics.
Head Coach, Middle School Boys Basketball Green Team Coach Harris comes to CIA with over 40 years of experience coaching basketball! Most recently, Sam was the head coach of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee from 1993-2018. He holds over 530 wins at the collegiate level, was named the conference coach of the year, and created a summer camp program.
Head Coach, Middle School Cross Country Leahanne joined the Mustang Athletics coaching staff in the fall of 2016 as the Assistant Coach for Middle School Cross Country. She is also a teacher in the Middle School and excels in building relationships with students.
Assistant Coach, Middle School Flag Football Assistant Coach, Middle School Cross Country Assistant Coach, Middle School Boys Basketball-Gold Coach Joel Shrum is in his fourth year at Currey Ingram Academy as a faculty member in the Middle School. Whether coaching or playing, Coach Shrum is no stranger in athletics.
Assistant Coach, Varsity Boys Basketball Coach McKey is a native of Illinois, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illnois University in Social Science with a concentration in Political Science. He has his Masters of Sport Administration from Belmont University. He has taught and coached at Currey Ingram since 2015. Prior to coming to Currey Ingram, Trevor served in the United States Air Force as a part of the Judge Advocate General Corps at Laughlin Air Force Base.
Assistant Coach, Middle School & Varsity Volleyball Dr. Hope Link joined the Upper School as the Director of College and Career Counseling in 2018. Coach Link played varsity volleyball during high school and still enjoys playing sand volleyball.
Assistant Coach, Middle School Boys Basketball Green Team Jake Grader is at home on the courts in the Jan Carell Field House. A 2017 graduate of Currey Ingram, Grader has remained involved as a summer camp coach and counselor, and now a coach. Jake finished his career as a Mustang as the most decorated Mustang Basketball player in school history. He finished as the school's only 1,000 point scorer with 1,208 career points and 715 career rebounds.
Head Coach, Middle School Basketball Club Kelby DeJarnett is a native of Paducah, KY and a Belmont University graduate. While at Belmont, Kelby worked in athletics marketing for three years, as well as student-athlete tutoring for two years. He is also entering his second season as the voice of the Mustangs for the Varsity Boys team.
Assistant Coach, Middle School Tennis Ben Davis is no stranger to Mustang Athletics. Ben was a standout tennis player for the Mustangs and part of the inaugural tennis team in 2011! Starting in the fall of 2018, he returned to his alma mater to assist with the Middle School tennis team.
