The Center for OutReach Education, or CORE, is designed to support students who learn differently beyond the walls of Currey Ingram Academy.
CORE offers Currey Ingram Academy’s signature evidence-based instruction in a one-on-one format for students who struggle with reading, writing, or math. We also offer occupational therapy services for students who struggle with handwriting and other fine motor skills, as well as speech and language therapy for students who struggle with articulation or communication skills.
CORE also offers FREE early screenings for families with children in grades K-2 who have concerns about their child's academic skills.

  • Who can participate?

CORE is open to students in grades K-8 who do not attend Currey Ingram Academy but who would benefit from extra support in reading, writing, or math, as well as those who can benefit from speech or occupational therapy support. Students may have been diagnosed with learning differences, but a diagnosis is not required.
  • What skills are targeted?

CORE instructors will use assessment data to tailor each child’s instructional program to fit their individual needs.

Reading intervention will target all of the major components of reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Math instruction will target computational skills, fact fluency, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills.

Writing instruction will target planning/organization, paragraph structure, writing mechanics, editing and revising, and handwriting/keyboarding fluency.

Occupational therapy sessions will provide intensive support with the fine motor mechanics of handwriting, as well as other fine motor, visual/perceptual, and sensory needs.

Speech and language therapy may target articulation, receptive and expressive language skills, pragmatic language, or other areas of communication depending on the needs of each student.
  • When and where will sessions take place?

In-person sessions will take place in the CORE offices on Currey Ingram's campus. Online sessions will be conducted synchronously via Google Meet. CORE sessions will be offered during and after school hours. Each session will last for one hour. It is recommended that students participate in a minimum of two sessions per week.
  • How much will it cost?

Each one-hour session will cost $90. It is recommended that students participate in a minimum of two sessions per week. Families who reserve a full semester of sessions in advance will receive a 10% discount.
  • What should I expect from a free screening?

Currey Ingram CORE offers free early screenings in reading, math, speech, and occupational therapy for any student in grades K-2 in the Nashville community and beyond. Research shows that early intervention is critical for students who learn differently. These screenings are designed to provide families who are concerned about their child's academic development with more information about whether their child is likely to encounter difficulty in these areas. A trained Currey Ingram staff member will administer the assessment and discuss the results with families, providing individualized feedback and recommending next steps.
  • How do I sign up?

Registration is open on a rolling basis throughout the year, pending teacher availability. Please complete this form to begin the registration process.
