Head Coach, Middle School Golf Club Transformational Purpose Statement: I coach to serve our student-athletes outside of the classroom, teaching the importance of commitment and responsibility to their communities, as well as to help them find a balance to develop grit and positivity in competition.

Coaching Experience: Coach Shrum played football and baseball and was a student manager for the ETSU football team in college. He coached three sports for the Mustangs and was the 2019 Mustang Athletics Excellence in Coaching Award recipient. Joel is a faculty member in the Middle School, teaching 6th grade science. Mr. Shrum earned a Bachelor of Science in K-6 Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University and holds a Tennessee teaching license in K-6 Elementary Education.
