Student Wins First Place in National Video Contest
After winning first place in a national student video contest presented by Stossel in the Classroom, Dillon Hodes, class of 2019, spent last week in New York City meeting with acclaimed journalist John Stossel.
Stossel in the Classroom is a project of the non-profit Center for Independent Thought which provides free curriculum materials and assistance to teachers, featuring video clips from journalist John Stossel.
Students, ages 14 to 23, were asked to produce a one- to three-minute video examining minimum wage laws and the impact they have on employees, employers and the economy, after viewing John Stossel’s video on the issue.
Upper School history teacher Trevor McKey asked his students to participate, which led to Dillon creating and submitting the award winning video. For first place, Dillon received a $1,500 check and an all-expense paid trip to New York City to have lunch with Mr. Stossel.
