Flag Football Champions

Congratulations to the Mustang Middle School Flag Football team which won the WNSL Music City Bowl Tournament last weekend. The team is coach by Reid McFadden and Joel Shrum.

Prior to going into the WNSL Music City Bowl Tournament, the team competed in the WNSL regular season and finished with a 4-3 record. With the slate wiped clean, the Mustangs took the field on Saturday morning and crushed the competition, winning 39-26 to advance to the semi-finals on Sunday morning. In that game, the Mustangs avenged one of their regular season losses winning 25-12 in a dominating performance to clinch their spot in the championship game.
The championship game featured the most exciting game of the season. Scoring first, the Mustangs were off to a hot start, but quickly found luck not in their favor, as they trailed at half time by a score of 13-25. In the second half, the defense came up with two big stops, while the offense put up 14 points to take the lead 27-25. On the last possession of the game, the Mustangs came up with a stop on 4th and goal as the clock expired to capture the WNSL Music City Bowl Championship! The Mustangs scored 91 points over 3 games, 20 more than the next closest team.
With the win, the team will be recognized at the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on December 29, at Nissan Stadium, as part of the WNSL Parade of Champions.
