Welcome to The Anne Wilson Potter Learning Commons, home to the K-12 LibTech (Library and Technology) team. The LibTech Department is founded on the knowledge that students today need informed and frequent access to technology and explicit instruction on finding, evaluating, and applying information.

Student-centered Technology
Rather than approaching technology and library science as subjects, we integrate them into the classroom to improve learning. Students use iPads or Mac notebooks as learning tools, earning the privilege to take notebooks home in fifth grade. All K-12 classrooms are outfitted with interactive whiteboards, as well. LibTech Integrationists support teachers through training, selecting resource collections, and helping students learn how to access, analyze, and apply information resources for their units of study. We also work with teachers to support students who use assistive technologies such as organizational tech tools and text-to-speech and dictation software.

Tech-Rich Activities
The LibTech department also provides students with myriad opportunities to engage in technology-rich activities that encourage individual strengths and interests. These activities often include but are not limited to:
  • Virtual field trips and distance learning opportunities for all grade levels via a high-definition, large-screen video conferencing system
  • 3D rendering and printing classes, clubs, and activities
  • Minecraft clubs
  • Video editing, photography, and audio engineering activities
  • iPad class sets available for checkout
  • Access to Playaway audiobooks and interactive e-books
