Every coach remembers bits and pieces of every season they coach. This season, I think I will remember it all. This was a team of firsts for me in my short coaching career here at CIA.
Every coach remembers bits and pieces of every season they coach. This seasoon, I think I will remember it all. This was a team of firsts for me in my short coaching career here at CIA. This team had members from the 2011 team that experienced a winless season. They certainly turned that around this year. We finished the season with the second best record in the conference. We finished 7-3 beating every team in the league at least once. That is something no team of mine has ever done before. This team worked together and grieved together. This team loved each other and argued with each other. This team became one unit which is all a coach can ever ask for. We are very proud of this team's achievements on the field.
Some highlights:
Kaitlyn Bean with her first goal ever.
Cody Ranchino putting one into the back of the net.
Natasha Rollins having the guts to try a hard position like goalie and turning it into something she is skilled at.
Isaac Hanai leading and running the team from the Sweeper position while still getting the joy of scoring two goals.
Lauren Pruett and Ben Poloway running the midfield the entire season.
The Defensive diamond coming together as a unit regardless of who was back there.
The offense making the “ideal play” look…well…ideal.
David Cone with a stellar performance in goal that earned him a spot on the all-conference team for the playoffs.
Every player on this team gave me all the effort and all the guts they could for an entire season. Team members include Lauren Rosen, Lauren Pruett, Brandon Minor, Spencer Tate, Ben Poloway, Kirsten Hrynewich, Jerry Greer, Jake Grader, Kaitlyn Bean, Natasha Rollins, Allie Hartge, Carson McConnell, Brandon Watkins, Matt Miller, Chase Moosher, David Cone, Isaac Hanai, Eliot Caplan, and Cody Ranchino. Each and every player wanted to become better soccer players and every single one achieved that goal. GO MUSTANGS!
