Endowment & Financial Assistance
The personalized educational experience of Currey Ingram Academy is made possible by our low student-teacher ratio, state-of-the-art technology, and exceptional teacher training. Through the generosity of our community donors, our students thrive.
To serve every student seeking a Currey Ingram education, our community of donors has generously contributed to our endowment and financial assistance opportunities creating life-changing experiences for current and prospective students.
The generosity of our supporters has enabled the school to offer need-based tuition assistance through these designated funds, and just over 40% of our families receive tuition assistance each year. Donors are welcome to create an endowed scholarship fund, add to an already established fund, or contribute to the general scholarship endowment fund.
As of March 2022, a separate named endowment fund may be established with an initial investment of $25,000 or more. If you have a desire to create a named endowment but aren't able to start it with the initial investment amount, then the minimum amount is $5,000. Those funds will be placed in the Academy’s investment account and not drawn upon until the $25,000 minimum balance is reached, either by donation or earnings.
The Endowed Scholarship Gift: Plant a seed and watch it grow
The interest earned on an endowed financial aid fund is used annually to provide need-based tuition assistance to qualified students and families. The fund's principal amount remains intact, thereby perpetually assuring the use of the interest earned.

An initial gift or total balance of at least $25,000 establishes a named endowed fund at Currey Ingram Academy. Below is a list of our current Endowment and Financial Aid Funds.
SIS AND DORTCH OLDHAM ENDOWMENT
This endowment was created in 2014 through a planned gift from Sis and Dortch Oldham. The fund supports need-based financial aid.

ANNA SUE SHAW TRUST ENDOWMENT FUND
Annette Eskind and her late husband Irwin, both grandparents of a Currey Ingram alumna, started this fund in 1999. It helps faculty and staff remain current in cutting-edge programs for students with learning differences.
The 1968 Society recognizes those members of the School community who make a bequest or planned gift, expanding opportunities for future generations of Currey Ingram Academy students. With gifts of all sizes, members of The 1968 Society honor and sustain the mission of Currey Ingram Academy and inspire others to support the School. Like the School’s founders, theirs is a legacy with continuing impact. We are honored to represent their philanthropic priorities in perpetuity, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to assume that trust and responsibility.
ANNA SUE SHAW TRUST ENDOWMENT FUND
This fund was established in 2018 by the Anna Sue Shaw Foundation in support of the It's Possible Campaign to help families who may find tuition a barrier to enrollment.

BONITA J. HALPRIN FUND
This fund was established in 2007 after the passing of Ms. Bonnie Halprin. Ms. Halprin was a former parent and teacher at Currey Ingram and served as president of the first parent group at Westminster School (now Currey Ingram Academy).

For 34 years, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville housed Currey Ingram Academy as Westminster School. Church parishioners and officials established this fund.

The Diana Rumbaugh Fund was established in 2008 after Ms. Rumbaugh passed away. Ms. Rumbaugh was an energetic teacher who helped her students achieve success in the classroom and was also there to cheer them on in their extracurricular activities.

DOROTHY CATE AND THOMAS F. FRIST ENDOWED FINANCIAL AID FUND
Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Frist, Sr. were among the first friends and supporters of Westminster School. Their initial gift in 1975 allowed the school to install its first drinking fountain. Dr. and Mrs. Frist continued to support Westminster until their deaths in 1998. Their children established this fund in their memory.

The Joanne Gundy Financial Aid Fund was established in 2009. Ms. Gundy was the mother of former Head of School Kathy Rayburn. Ms. Gundy was a dedicated and beloved English teacher in Indianapolis, Indiana, before moving to Nashville in 2002.

KATHLEEN G. RAYBURN FINANCIAL AID FUND
The Kathleen G. Rayburn Financial Aid Fund was established in 2013 upon the retirement of longtime Head of School Ms. Kathy Rayburn. Ms. Rayburn served as Head of School from 1995-2013 and oversaw the transition of the Westminster School of Nashville to Currey Ingram Academy in 2002.

Currey Ingram Academy
Currey Ingram Academy is an exemplary PreK-12 day and boarding school that empowers students with learning differences to achieve their fullest potential. Since 2002, the school has been located on an 83-acre campus in Brentwood, Tennessee, just miles from Nashville and Franklin.
